The only true answer is not often. But sometimes, occasionally, rarely even, something grabs your attention, holds your gaze and you find yourself cocking your head like a puppy seeing something new for the first time.
The real beauty of experiencing something which makes the corner of your lips turn up, is that it has the ability to put what you may have considered beautiful before back in its place and you can’t help but admire something which raises the bar so much that you wonder if it can be beaten.

I remember watching Usain Bolt “jog” across the line for a new world record breaking every preconceived notion of what makes a great sprinter and like everybody else who witnessed it just being left in wonder at the spectacle and shaking my head in astonishment. When I saw this design for the first time I had what could be described as the design equivalent of the Usain Bolt experience.

Obviously there are a lot more considerations to good design than aesthetics but having not rode this machine I can’t comment on its performance. And seeing as that’s an unlikely possibility in the near future I will limit my opinions to the appearance and styling.
The keyword here is opinion. Beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder. I have read some comments on other websites which are none to complimentary of the P120 and I’m kinda curious as to the mentality and/or taste of these people. Maybe they’ve been watching too much American Chopper. Maybe they find this “lady” on the right attractive. But apparently Brad Pitt owns one of these which says it all really and I for one wouldn’t question his taste. Personally I would prefer Brad Pitts Missus to Fugly here but maybe that’s just me. (Apologies for shoehorning a pictue of ANGELina Jolie in. Couldn’t resist)

Although beauty can be subjective it does have some universal truths. Symmetry, good structure and proper proportions form a basis of attractiveness without which no amount of makeup can compensate for. And I think this is the most immediate and striking thing about the P120. It is subliminally beautiful. It is incredibly well proportioned leading to a sculptural look and feel. Gone are the bells and whistles you might find on other American Motorcycles and it is reduced/elevated to an elegant simplicity. Less in this case truly is more. So what you are left with is a piece of minimalist appearance, highly refined design which could almost double as a work of art. In fact it is a work of art. Which doubles as a motorcycle.
I’ll wait until the test drive to say any more.
